Psychometric Tests? You Must Be Mad!Everybody is different; that's almost a given, even when we realise the Earth's population is closing in on seven billion. There are no two people on this earth that are completely identical; even birth twins differ as they develop and their mental attitudes can be very different. Psychometrics is the science of measuring and evaluating character traits, mental abilities and of course, attitude. This is a very important study as we are now accepting a greater analysis of a person's character, whether it's a case of sports psychology or celebrity analysis. Psychometric tests are also used by human resource departments to asses if a particular candidate would be suitable for a particular role. This has a number of advantages as the tests allow the user to quickly gauge the mental attitude and orientation of the participant, without having to get to know them in greater detail. This has the advantage of discovering whether or not somebody has the necessary capacity to perform a particular role or action. This can also be called aptitude testing and often has questions based around the job itself. This helps employers understand how a candidate would fare if they were offered the job and how they would respond in certain situations. Psychometric tests are now the interview of choice for employers and are the most effective way of quickly assessing a candidates suitability. |
