Cruises have always been an interesting concept and judging from the reactions of many people I have spoke to you either love them or your hate them, it is really a matter of personal choice.
Some people I know only ever go on cruises as they love the fact that they are travelling around and seeing more of the world than you would if you were stuck in one place for a couple of weeks. They also love carrying their home around with them so to speak, so that they visit several countries without ever having to unpack.
They also rave about the extensive facilities offered on board by many of the cruise ships now, with casinos, full sized shopping malls and even golf courses and they scoff at the idea that food choices are limited as there are tens of different restaurants and bars.
But there are still the detractors who are of the opinion that a cruise ship is somehow a little claustrophobic – even if they have never been on one! – and that they face having to spend a week or two with the same faces that they may not get on with – even though there are thousands of people on a modern cruise ship!
Love them or not, they are now an incredibly popular way of holidaying today and seeing the world.
